USSA Eastern Regional High School Championship

Eastern Regional HS Ski Championships

Immediately following the Race of Champions, NJISRA will choose an "NJISRA State Team" to attend High School Regional's at Mittersill at Cannon Mountain, Franconia, NH.  The top 12 NJISRA men and the top 12 Women will be selected.  Some racers are not able to attend, and we continue down the list until we fill 24 spots.  These 24 racers will be selected as follows:

  • NJISRA Conference race points multiplied by 0.30 plus ROC points.
  • The ROC shall be scored as three separate runs, one run of giant slalom and two runs of slalom. Each INDIVIDUAL RUN of EACH discipline shall be scored, 30-1 for GS and 20-1 for slalom.

Due to the immediate deadline for EHC registration, racers will need to accept their invitation immediately (within 1 hour) following the email distribution the evening of the ROC.  Essentially, if you are in contention to make the EHC, you must discuss attendance PRIOR to the race on 2/21.  Anyone who is not decided at the end of the hour will lose their spot and the next ranked athlete will be invited instead.  Acceptance also includes payment delivered and received.

  • Venmo: @LMasi
  • Zelle: lmasi727@gmail.com
  • Paypal: @TheMasi

The racers name should be included in the payment details so it can be attributed correctly.  Entry Fee is $255 per racer. Non USSA Membership $100 plus $25 per day. The fees must be included in full.

  • Race entry fee: $255
  • Coaching fee: $200
  • Thursday training fee: $39 (optional, but strongly encouraged)
  • TJ team jacket: $100 (optional)

Please note lodging and travel is not included in the above.  We have arranged a room block for your convenience.  While we encourage athletes to all stay at the same hotel, this is not required.  Please note this should also be done the evening immediately following the ROC.  Details will be shared with those that make the team.

Unlike NJISRA races, the EHC is sanctioned by U.S.Ski and Snowboard and as such, a membership with USSS is required.  If not already, you can sign up for a short term membership in order to receive your USSS number.  You can find those details at https://usskiandsnowboard.org/membership/alpine-athlete-membership.  Option 2 is the easiest way to do this and costs $100.  Click “More Info” at the bottom of the page to continue this process.  You can also use the contact information at the bottom of that page if you have further questions.  This must be completed before the first day of racing but does not need to be completed on 2/21.  Anyone over age 18 also has further requirements which are detailed at that link.

If you are considering attending these events, please review this document and make sure you’re ready to make a quick decision once invitations go out.  You must also complete this survey from above so that we have your contact information.  Formal invitations will go out Wednesday evening and will include this information again. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

The Eastern Regional Championship allows high school teams representing all states within the Eastern region, plus out-of-region guest teams, to compete against other state teams. This particular competition is open to all members of a state high school team who have qualified through state selection procedures. Team quota (state) is limited to twelve girls and twelve boys.

  • 3/2 Thursday - Registration and optional training (strongly recommended)
    GS 11:00-1:00  | SL 1:00-3:00 Lane 1
  • 3/3 Friday -  Slalom Men & Women - 2 runs 9:30am start
  • 3/4 Saturday - Giant Slalom Women - 2 runs 10:00am start
  • 3/5 Sunday -  Giant Slalom Men - 2 runs 10:00am start

All racers must be USSA members, or purchase the short term membership to participate in this event. This is a USSA event so FIS legal helmets must be used for the GS, and all skis must be USSA compliant in order to race.

U.S. Ski and Snowboard Member: http://my.ussa.org/short-term-membership If the racer is not already a U.S. Ski and Snowboard member, they must complete the online "Short Term" membership registration and follow up with U.S. Ski and Snowboard to get racer's USSA #. Online registration for USSA athlete memberships is immediate.  Cost is $25.00 per day.  Racer's U.S. Ski and Snowboard # must be sent to Coach Masi. The paperwork for temporary membership needs to be completed immediately.

Membership: This is key as there is a significant change in membership this year for athletes 18 years or older. These athletes must complete the US Ski & Snowboard Safe Sport Course and pass a background check. The background check is done by an independent agency and can take a couple of weeks if they are backed up. So please encourage any athlete that will be purchasing a Non-Scored athlete membership ($100.00) to do so sooner rather than later.
